A little more than a year ago, as the sad, nonstop reality show that was Britney Spears's train wreck of a life chugged steadily toward its inevitable psych ward-set crash, it made a brief stop in Meltdownville for a disastrous and ultimately scrapped dog poop- and chicken grease-marred photo shoot with OK! magazine.

Britney sat down with OK! magazine for her first interview in two years.

Now, as excited cries of "Britney's back!" grow louder thanks to her recent hard-bodied bikini shots and winningly giggly promos for the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards (the site of yet another run-off-the-rails moment in 2007), the on-the-mend but still closely supervised popster once again tops the cover of OK!, only this time the spin is decidedly positive.

In what's being billed as her first interview in two years (yep, her calamitous, gum-chomping chat with Matt Lauer was two long years ago), Britney lets the magazine into her Beverly Hills, Calif., home to talk about sons Sean Preston and Jayden James, whose dad, Kevin Federline, now has primary custody; her 17-year-old sister Jamie Lynn becoming a mom; and her career plans.

"I'm healthy, happy and excited about the future," enthuses the white sundress-clad paparazzi magnet, who says she's hard at work on her "more urban" new album, which she predicts will be released in "the next six to nine months." "I'm writing every day, right here at the piano in this living room. This is my best work ever."

In between tickling the ivories, she says she's settled into a comfortable domestic routine with her tots, who appear with her on the cover outfitted in teensy white tuxes and plaid fedoras that make them look a little like puppets in search of a ventriloquist.

She shares how they read the Berenstain Bears books and have watched the movie "Cars" about "9 million times."

Brit adds that her sons "love my spaghetti," which she usually cooks with a little help from "the maid," whose thoroughness is apparently a sticking point.

Spears admits she gets "mad if the maid does all the housework.
